Get ready for a treat! Today, we’re making simple and delicious gingerbread cookies. With basic ingredients and easy steps, these cookies are perfect for cozy moments and sweet cravings. Let’s dive into baking joy together! 🍪😊

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg to the butter-sugar mixture and beat well. Then, mix in the molasses and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half, wrap each portion in plastic wrap, refrigerate for at least 2 hours or even overnight.
  6. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Since we use molasses in this recipe and it’s not recommended to cook it in high temperatures, please keep the oven temperature as low as you can.
  8. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  9. Use gingerbread cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
  10. Bake the cookies or until the edges are firm. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Once cooled, if you want, you can decorate the gingerbread cookies with icing etc.

Enjoy your homemade gingerbread cookies!
